Wooden Walls, Wooden Heart

You will probably get very tired of hearing this every Wednesday, but I am so very excited to decorate and arrange a new place when I move for graduate school. By the way, I have been accepted at both East Tennessee State and Burren.

I don't know what else to say. I'm just plain excited. Here is a wooden themed picture collection from my Pinterest board House Stuff.

I See Pink When I Turn Out The Light

Well, well. This is a big week, my friends. Mardi Gras, Ash Wednesday and Valentine's Day. I bet most of y'all didn't even think about the first two holidays. Oh well! Is it really a big week? No. But Lent is one of my favorite traditions I have ever taken part in, so I'm excited. If you're taking part in Lent as well let me know what you're doing for your ... Lent-ing? (it sounds like a good word to me)

In celebration of the more famous, or infamous depending how you look at it, I have collected a bunch of images from my Outside board on Pinterest for . . . TRAVEL TUESDAY! With a Valentine's theme.

Enjoy!

Beautiful Strategy

Dearest Lovelies, I have not abandoned you. These past weeks have been both mindless relaxation, and, more recently, hellfire. I have a few updates: I just interviewed (like... 40min ago) with Kingston University London, I have submitted more applications, I am beginning what I believe will be my most exciting semester of independent study, and I have updated the cover photos on my Pinterest page.

That last one is the real kicker, right? Well, I'm pretty darn excited about it and have decided to share my cover photo strategy with you. It's pretty top secret, but I'm willing to spill the beans just for you... I choose pins with a similar color from every board. Whoa. I know. Well, in light of the upcoming Valentine's Day I went with pink and red. I really think this adds an extra edge to my account that hopefully gets more people interested in following my pin boards. If it doesn't... well... I still enjoy doing it, and what else really matters?

So tell me what you think. Below are my boards and here is a link to my account: whitney goller's pinterest. Will you be implementing this strategy now?

Baby, I'm Coming Home

The New Year is rolling around and despite my resistance to make a resolution for the past few years, I'm trying to decide on a few for 2013. Currently those weighing most on my mind are drawing in my sketchbook more (maybe a 365 challenge) and creating a more organized plan for my posting.

2013 is a big year for me! I'm graduating from The University of Findlay with my first degree. I am applying to MFA programs at The University of Texas, KingstonUniversity, The University of Oregon, Washington State University, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, The University of Colorado, and East Tennessee State University. There are a few more locations I am looking at but am up in the air about applying to a total of 9 masters programs.

There are so many ifs and buts floating around my head right now. What can I do but tackle each day that comes one at a time? I could be bogged down about the shear amount of work I have before me, but I'm excited about what all of that work means for me: new experiences!

In light of all this newness … here are some wonderful tracks to listen to as a reminder of the year on its way as you scroll through my roundup of Crafts I want to try from my Pinterest account.

Opacity

Sheer clothing is a daring feat. Wearing something shear is like wearing something skin tight: you had better be prepared for everyone to see everything that is regularly covered by your clothes. However, I think when it's done correctly it is truly one of the most elegant ways to dress. This also offers a nice way to show some daring skin in a time of the year where everything is covered up.

Because I love this look so much, I have not only rounded up some examples of shear clothing on Pinterest from my Oh La La Fashion board, but I have also found some places you can find these gauzy items (click the images for their look-a-likes).

Opacity is Audacity!

To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one's family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one's own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him.  - Buddha

{Happy} Peptides

This post really goes along with yesterday's: Let Your {Happy} Loose.

Specifically thought today I want you to laugh more. Not at anything in particular, but recognize that your laughter will unlock not only happiness in you, but in those around you also.

Laughing also is thought to release endorphins, which are the happy peptides that are associated with a feeling of well-being, pain relief, getting a high, and orgasm. 'On average, watching about 15 minutes of comedy in a group increased pain threshold by 10 percent,' says the article Why Laughter May Bethe Best Pain Medicine on Scientific American.

So check out this humorous round-up I put together below and check out a few of these websites as well:
